♤ mini review: 5⭐️. i enjoyed my journey to the land of Elecara, their adventures were fun to read about and it kept glued to it. I have been disconnected from Fantasy for awhile, but this book so easily made me fall in love with it. this mainly has two pov’s – lady of darkness and maeva. the world building kept me hooked, and it didn’t like get boring. there was something going on and kept my interest. the creatures mentioned in the story were super cool, and woah! this one wasn’t fast paced, but not too slow either. i so look forward for the next book in the series!!

Blurb:

Reunite the Shadow and Flame.

On one fateful night an insistent knock drags Maeva of Elecara out of a deep sleep. She rushes to her best friend’s side, Ophelia, only to have a stolen prophecy shoved into her hands. They must return a child goddess to her rightful place in the Afterworld.

With their other best friend Kiel, the three set off on an adventure through the kingdom that will not only risk all their lives, but Mae will find out what loyalty truly means, how far the bonds of her chosen family will go, and what it means to let the ice protecting her heart finally thaw.

Meanwhile, deep beneath the palace, in a room of stone, a prisoner is shackled and hidden. What are her choices? Try to free herself and meet the king’s wrath or wait for a savior. Blinded and broken, the prisoner bides her time. If the Gods are willing she will see her family again.

EXCERPT

Excerpt 1:

It is said the Moon was in love with the Sun, and the Sun was in love with the
Moon. Their passion burned like an inferno; their love flowed like water. Stolen
kisses in the dead of night, words of promise whispered in the soft morning light. A
love so complete, it was all-encompassing. The realms lived in harmony. Then came
two daughters of starlight and sunbeams, flame and shadows. The universe was at
peace.
Harmony cannot last, for without conflict there will never be tranquility. The
Moon and the Sun had their hearts torn apart. A ruined family, a stolen daughter. A
sister abandoned. Deep sadness descended upon the world, the Moon dimming her
light. She wept, dark black tears fell over the land, turbulent storms marred the sea.
A centuries long revenge that came with a prophecy. There will be one who will
reunite the Moon and Sun with Flame and Shadow. There is one who will restore
balance. Reunite the Moon and Sun with Flame and Shadow for this is how we
flourish once again

Excerpt 2:

Drip, drip, drip.
Water? It stirred her out of something akin to slumber. Assaulting her ears.
She tried to look around, and she found that she was blinded. She could feel a
rough cloth chafing the delicate skin around her three eyes, making it raw; a far cry
from the ruby red silk sash she wore during judgment. She could feel blood mix
with oily tears running down her face. She tried to reach up to tear it off, but her
wrists were stopped short. Heavy iron bracelets kept her in place. They dragged her
arms back down to her sides. Where was she?

Excerpt 3:

Trying to piece together where she was, she felt the rough stone beneath
her. Damp and cold, far beneath the ground, if she had to guess. Crying out, her
voice ricocheted off the walls around her and she realized that she was in a small
room. She could only guess that it was dark, for she could see no light coming from

under the cloth around her eyes. She felt the heavy irons around her wrists
following the links to find they bound her to the floor. She tried to pull herself free,
straining against the cuffs. She began to melt her pale skin, seeing in her mind as it
turned to liquid. She pictured the obsidian bone beneath, hard as stone. She pulled
again and felt a burn through her body. She reformed the skin and tried again,
liquifying it away to the bone. However, as much as she tried to free herself, her
shackles bound her further.

Excerpt 4:

Silvered iron, she thought to herself. The one thing that would keep her in
this prison. Made from metals mined from the great mountains to the North, near
the entrance to the seven water realms. There were few who knew the properties
of the iron from the North, herself included. She knew though, that with the help of
a sorceress, magic could be infused into the metal to bind ancient beings. This is
where she found herself, the First Goddess, ensnared by mere metal. Silvered Iron
would keep her in place. Only one being could break it. Her chest caved in at the
thought that he felt a million miles away. She found that if she tried to rise, she
could only make it to a half crouch. Her back scraped against the stone. She felt the
skin begin to rip; the flesh pulling away from the bone. She cried out again, hearing
her voice come back to her echoing over and over again. Sinking back to the floor
feeling defeated, she could sense someone else in the room with her.
Balo.
“You’ll pay for this,” she spoke quietly but with a powerful malice
underscoring her words.
